Division One League side Golden Kick SC have been charged by the Disciplinary Committee of the Ghana Football Association after their 2024/25 MTN FA Cup final loss to Asante Kotoko on Sunday.
They have been accused of breaching GFA Disciplinary Code 2019 and the Division One League Regulations, 2019.
Golden Kick lost the final of the MTN FA Cup 2-1 after Kwame Opoku’s injury-time penalty delivered a much-expected result for the Porcupine Warriors.
Bless Ege’s stunning freekick had cancelled Opoku’s 16th minute header only for substitute referee Latif Adaari to give the Asante Kotoko striker a penalty in injury time.
The call provoked fans of Golden Kick as they threw objects to the pitch in protest.
“It is alleged that supporters of Golden Kick FC threw objects onto the field of play during the said match,” the GFA charge on Monday, June 16 read.
“Further, the club is alleged to have made social media commentary on the match officials, which brings the competition into disrepute.”
The club has been given up to Wednesday, June 18 to respond to the charges.
