Chief Executive Officer of Bibiani Goldstars SC Kwesi Adu has described as “unfortunate” the absence of the Ghana Premier League trophy at the Dun’s Park in Bibiani in the Western North Region on Sunday, June 8.

He said no information was received about the mishap but he looks forward to a coronation match to showcase the giant trophy to fans of the club.

Mr Adu was speaking following the club’s 4-0 drubbing of Accra Lions on Matchday 34

to annex a maiden domestic title after four years in the elite league.

“It’s unfortunate that the trophy wasn’t here,” he said in an interview with MG Sports a few moments after the triumph.

“The people want to see the trophy before you realise how Bibiani people love football and I don’t know the decision yet.”

About three other clubs – Asante Kotoko, Nations FC and Heart of Lions – had the chance of winning the trophy on the final day.

This could have been the reason for the uncertainty as to where the trophy was going to be on the final day.

The Bibiani Goldstars SC CEO says he has picked information that there will be a coronation game on Friday, June 13.

“From the grapevine, I’m told that Friday, there could be a coronation match here. I feel that on that day, that’s when Ghanaians will see the love we have for football and it’s very good news to the people of Bibiani.”
