The Minister of Communications, Samuel Nartey George, has announced that data bundle allocations for all telecommunication networks in Ghana will be increased, effective July 1, 2025.
He made the announcement at a press conference in Accra Tuesday, June 10, where he disclosed that the Ministry has had a fruitful engagement with the various telcos to arrive at the decision.
“I am pleased to announce that my engagement with the CEOs has resulted in the following specific measures,” Minister George stated.
- AirtelTigo Ghana (AT Ghana):
10% increase across all data bundles
GH₵400 bundle upgraded from 195GB to 236GB - Telecel Ghana:
10% increase across all data bundles
GH₵400 bundle increased from 90GB to 250GB - MTN Ghana:
15% increase across all data bundles
Restoration of GH₵399 bundle offering 214GB (previously changed to GH₵350 for 92.88GB)
Sam George further stated that he is aware of the financial implications of the data review on the network operators, he is glad the discussions have yielded fruits for Ghanaians.
“I am aware these increases will come at considerable cost to the network operators. However, I am glad that our engagements and consultations are bearing fruit for the Ghanaian people.”
He expressed gratitude to the Chief Executive Officers of the telcos for cooperating with the government, indicating the development is an improvement in government-industry collaboration in the communications sector.
These changes come as part of ongoing efforts to enhance digital accessibility and value for money in Ghana’s telecom market.
