The Minister of Health, Dr. Bernard Oko-Boye, has clarified that government has not approved any mandatory health insurance for non-Ghanaian resident visitors.

According to the Minister, the policy is a proposal that has been suggested by the National Health Insurance Authority, and is yet to be discussed or approved by cabinet.

A statement issued by the Minister Tuesday, June 18, 2024, admonished the public to disregard reports suggesting that the policy has been approved as well as its mode of implementation.

He assured the public of the government’s commitment to scrutinising the policy thoroughly to ensure it would be in the interest of the public before approving it.
