Former Greater Accra Regional Minister, Daniel Nii Kwartei Titus-Glover, says he’s certain the opposition New Patriotic Party (NPP) will win power with Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia if they put their arsenal to good use.
He describes the governing National Democratic Congress’ (NDC) handling of the economy as cosmetic, saying it’s not reflecting in the lives of citizens, which he believes would propel the NPP to victory if they get things right.
According to Titus-Glover, the very indices that influence the adjustment of utility tariffs are currently favourable, while tariffs keep increasing.
The former Member of Parliament for Tema East, in an exclusive interview with Johnnie Hughes of 3FM Tuesday, March 10, 2026, he cautioned that Ghana could slip into a deflationary period if care is not taken.
He was confident the NPP will return to power in the next election if the government keeps making citizens suffer despite economic indicators suggesting life should be better for them.
“We need to put ourselves together well. With Dr. Bawumia I’m sure we can do magic because the way things are going…,” he answered, when asked if he was sure the NPP could win the 2028 election.
He explained that the realities on the ground and the figures defy logic, warning of an economic downturn if things continue on their current trajectory.
“I don’t know the economic theory my good friends in the NDC are applying. They say we have single-digit inflation. If we are not careful, it will lead us to deflation because we are overpowering the cedi but it does not reflect in what’s on the ground,” he stated.
The former lawmaker listed the major indicators that determine utility tariffs and questioned why they are down but not reflecting on the tariffs.
“There are certain indices that are factored when you’re increasing utility tariffs ie the cedi-dollar exchange rate, inflation. These two key things but we are told that they’re all stabilised. The cedi-dollar is stabilised, inflation is 3.8%, so why do we continue to give us high tariffs for this power,” he quizzed.
