The Member of Parliament for Bodi, who also serves as the Deputy Minister-designate for Trade, Agribusiness, and Industry, Sampson Ahi, has announced the government’s plan to establish a farming centre and a rice factory at Sefwi Afere, located in the Bodi district of the Western North region.

Speaking at a thanksgiving service at Sefwi Bodi, Mr. Ahi stated that the government is committed to supporting farmers by creating farming centres in agricultural communities. These centres, he noted, will provide farmers with access to modern farming equipment and resources to enhance their productivity.

He emphasized that Sefwi Afere is a key rice-producing community in the area. However, due to the lack of processing facilities, farmers often struggle to add value to their produce, leading to significant losses.

To address this issue, the government plans to establish a rice factory in the area, which will process and package locally produced rice, ensuring better market opportunities and increased profitability for farmers.

Mr. Ahi assured farmers that the necessary measures are being put in place to support them, and the project will commence after the national budget is presented and approved by Parliament.

This initiative is expected to boost the local rice industry, create employment opportunities, and contribute to the overall economic growth of the region.
