Ghana Premier League leaders FC Samartex 1996 are 5 points clear at the top of the standings after a 3-1 away win over Accra Lions on Friday, December 29.

Two early goals by Dauda Yusif Seidu and Baba Hammadi Musa within seven minutes of each other ensured that the leaders were comfortably in control going into the break.

Though Accra Lions pulled one back through Abdul-Shakum Abubakari at the Sogakope Park, Michael Ephson inflicted the final nail on the coffin in injury time.

The Matchday 17 game ended 3-1.

The win gives FC Samartex 32 points atop the standings with Lions remaining 9th with 20 points.

Other Matchday 17 games have been lined up for Saturday and Sunday.

After their three-match home ban, Bofoakwa Tano FC will return to the Sunyani Coronation Park, where they will welcome Asante Kotoko on Saturday, December 30.

Karela United will also host champions Medeama SC at the Aliu Mahama Sports Stadium.

The third match on Saturday will see Bibiani Gold Stars host Legon Cities at the Dun’s Park in Bibiani.

The remaining games will be honoured on Sunday.
