The Ghana Registered Nurses and Midwives Association (GRNMA) has suspended its nationwide strike today, Friday, June 13, 2025, following a meeting by the National Executive Council of the Association.

The meeting, which took place on Thursday, June 12, by the NEC, followed an earlier one with the Parliamentary Select Committee on Health.

Parliament’s Select Committee engaged the striking nurses to devise a roadmap to meet their demands, a meeting which is set to be reconvened in two weeks time.

In an address delivered by the President of the Association, Perpetual Ofori-Ampofo, all nurses and midwives who were on strike have been asked to resume services from Saturday, June 14, 2025.

Madam Ampofo noted that they do not take delight in the suffering of patient’s but cannot take care of others whilst they are not being taken care of.

She also noted that the propaganda which has surrounded their strike is unfortunate, indicating that the association is apolitical.

The GRNMA embarked on a nationwide strike on June 2, 2025, following what it described as the government’s failure to adhere to its conditions of service which was promised by government.
