The Ghana Tourism Authority (GTA) is set to promote traditional shrines in the country. The GTA says these traditional shrines are tourism on their own but no attention has been given to them.
The Director of Corporate Affairs at the GTA, Bright Kwesi Asempa Tsadidey, made this revelation in an exclusive interview to OnuaOnline on the sidelines of his unveiling as the Director of Corporate Affairs in Accra.
“Even shrines. Traditional shrines are tourism on their own but no attention has been given. When people come to study how our traditionalists communicate with their gods and other things, can you imagine the number of tourists it will attract if boosted?”
Mr. Asempa said “such will signify something far greater—a renewed commitment to service, innovation, and the advancement of Ghana’s tourism narrative.”
“It will also position Ghana not just as a leading tourist destination but as a compelling global cultural force. Tourism, to me, is more than movement—it is storytelling. It is about transforming every visitor into a part of Ghana’s living heritage, and empowering every Ghanaian to be an ambassador of our rich culture. At the center of this mission lies the Black Star Experience, a bold initiative that showcases Ghana’s authenticity, creativity, and legacy on a global scale,” he added.
The Director said “this experience is more than an event—it is an identity, a movement that celebrates our arts, music, fashion, cuisine, and traditions.”
“Moving forward, I am dedicated to amplifying its reach, strengthening its cultural relevance, and ensuring it connects deeply with the diaspora, tourists, and locals alike. In the months ahead, my focus will be to provide:
“Public education and awareness, to educate the public on the mandate of Ghana Tourism Authority. – Strengthen our communications framework, ensuring Ghana’s tourism story is told more boldly and strategically, both at home and abroad. – Build stronger partnerships with media, stakeholders, and industry players to elevate Brand Ghana. – Champion a unified, dynamic tourism identity that reflects the soul of Ghana and captivates the world’s imagination. – To our stakeholders—collaboration is our strength. To the media— your voice is invaluable. And to the public—this is a shared journey. We are shaping a tourism industry that is not just thriving but transformative, one that belongs to all of us and elevates Ghana’s global presence,” he explained.
Mr. Tsadidey holds a Bachelor of Law (LLB) from the Ghana Institute of Management and Public Administration Law Faculty, MA in Communications Development from the Ghana Institute of Journalism, MSc in leadership from the University of Professional Studies, BSc in Operations and Project Management from the Ghana Institute of Public Administration (GIMPA), and Agilepro Consult Project Management Professional (PMP) Trainee.
