Gyakye Quayson’s contempt case against KT Hammond dismissed by High Court

An Accra High Court has dismissed a contempt case filed against the Member of Parliament for Adansi Asokwa, Kobina Tahir (KT) Hammond.

The case was filed by lawyers of the MP for Assin North, James Gyakye Quayson.

The Trades and Industry Minister was sued for making comments in the media against Mr. Gyakye Quayson which were deemed prejudicial.

The Assin North lawmaker is facing criminal charges for his dual citizenship allegations.

However, the court dismissed the case today, Thursday, October 19, 2023, with the judge noting that enough evidence was not provided to secure a conviction.

The judge also ruled that KT Hammond’s comments were not intended to interfere with the criminal case against Quayson.
