The Office of the Honourable Minister of Education and Member of Parliament for Tamale South, Haruna Iddrisu, is strongly condemning the circulation of a fraudulent video currently making rounds on social media platforms, particularly Facebook.

The video in question falsely depicts the Honourable Minister being interviewed by a reporter, with misleading banners superimposed on the screen. One banner reads:
“A government platform guarantees an income of 10,500 per week.”

Another states: “Invest 2,600 today and receive your first payment into your bank account as early as tomorrow.”

“This video is a complete fabrication,” a spokesperson from the Minister’s Media Relations Unit stated. “It is a deepfake—digitally altered and designed by malicious actors to deceive the public and promote fraudulent investment schemes.”

The Minister’s office says Mr. Iddrisu has no affiliation whatsoever with any investment platform or financial scheme being promoted in the video.

“We wish to make it abundantly clear that Honourable Haruna Iddrisu has never endorsed, promoted, or participated in any such initiative,” the statement continued. “This is an outright scam and a deliberate attempt to manipulate public trust using digital forgery.”

The Office is calling on the public to remain vigilant and not to engage with or share the video under any circumstances.

“We strongly urge all individuals who come across this video—or any similar material—to disregard it immediately and report it to the relevant authorities or the platform on which it appears,” the Office advised.

The Honourable Minister and his team are also exploring legal avenues to pursue those responsible for producing and distributing the fraudulent content.
