Heart of Lions have recorded their first win of the 2023/24 Ghana Premier League following a 2-0 win over Berekum Chelsea on Sunday, December 31.

It was the first home game for returnee coach Bashir Hayford.

Two first-half goals by Ebenezer Abban and Nana Kwame Oppong – the former’s from the spot – were enough to secure all the three points for returning Ghana Premier League side.

The win is their first since returning to the elite club competition in Ghana.

With two outstanding games, the Kpando-based side had played 14 games in the League this season without a win.

They had recorded six draws and eight defeats.

They had parted ways with coach Salifu Fatawu, who secured promotion from the Division One Zone 3.

Therefore, the win on Sunday, December 31 comes as a major boost despite having little impact on their position.

Heart of Lions will now turn attention to their two outstanding games.

Before then, they are bottom of the 18-club League with 8 points.
