Hearts of Oak are back to winning ways after a Raphael Amponsah strike in the first half gave them a 1-0 win over former champions Medeama SC in the Ghana Premier League.

The win at the Accra Sports Stadium on Sunday gives the Phobians a double over the Mauves and Yellows.

Prior to the game, Hearts had gone three games unbeaten, falling from the fourth to the sixth position.

They were playing a resurgent Medeama side that had climbed up the league log just on top of them.

But a long-range strike by Amponsah early in the game, in the 22nd minute, was the separator as Aboubakar Ouattara’s side picked all the three points.

The win sees Hearts leapfrog their opponents to the fifth position.

Their next match will be away to debutants Vision FC while Medeama SC will return to Tarkwa to host Dreams FC.
