Two early goals by Hearts of Oak gave them the needed win over Nations FC in the first game of Week 32 of the Ghana Premier League.
Played at the Accra Sports Stadium on Friday, the match was highly contested as Hearts needed all the three points in order to revive their survival hopes in the League.
Nations FC also wanted the maximum points to stay in contention of winning the title.
However, a first goal by Kassim Cissé in the 7th minute and another by Hamza Issah seven minutes later ensured that the Phobians carried the day.
The 2-0 win moves them up from the 14th position to the 11th position with 41 points.
Nations FC remain 4th as their hopes of annexing the title for the first time in their short history fade.
Hearts are scheduled to play city rivals Great Olympics in their next encounter while Nations host Bechem United on Friday, June 7.
