The Support Fund for children of the victims of August 6 helicopter crash has so far accrued two million, three hundred and fifteen thousand Ghana cedis (GHS 2,315,000.00). 

President John Dramani Mahama on Friday, August 15, 2025, announced the establishment of a Children’s Support Fund to guarantee the welfare of the children of the victims of the August 6 helicopter crash.

This was revealed in a statement issued on Tuesday, August 19, 2025 and signed by Dr. Valerie Sawyerr, Senior Presidential Advisor on Governmental Affairs and Coordinator of the Fund.

Government expressed gratitude to the following companies which have so far contributed to the Fund;

  2. GB Foods Ghana
  3. Sunda FM Manufacturing Ltd
  4. Sage Distribution Ltd
  5. Quantum Oil Terminals
  6. Quantum LPG Logistics Ltd
  7. Newgas Cylinder Ltd
  8. Quantum Terminals PLC

Government has also expressed gratitude to Stanbic Bank Ghana for an initial seed donation of GHS 500,000.00.

Donations may be made to the Fund via the following Stanbic Bank Ghana Limited accounts (Stanbic Heights Branch, Accra): Ghana Cedi (GHS) Account: 9040013628372 or the US Dollar (USD) Account:9040013628534

Government advised that cheques and bank drafts should be made payable to: CHILDREN SUPPORT FUND 6825.

The statement added that a list of donors will be published weekly.

President Mahama launched the Fund with the purpose to ensure that the children left behind will not be deprived of the opportunities, care, and security their parents worked so hard to provide.

“The next decision that the government has taken is for the creation of a Children’s Support Fund for the children of the victims of the August 6 helicopter crash,” the President noted.

The President assured that his office will ensure the Fund is sustained over the long term, with annual public reporting on how it has been used.

“Furthermore, we will create channels for contributions from our citizens, from corporate organizations, professional associations, and our international partners,” he added.
