Some residents of Nzema in the Western region are appealing to the President-elect, John Dramani Mahama, to consider an Nzema indigene as the nexr Chief Executive Officer of the Ghana Gas Company Limited as he prepares to form his government.
In a statement signed by the leader of the Municipal Youth Parliament, a youth group in Nzema, Jonas Kabutey congratulated John Mahama on his recent victory to the high seat of the country.
The group held that it would be prudent for the next CEO to be given to a son of the land since the establishment is on their soil.
“We, the Youth Wing of Nzema, warmly congratulate you on your recent election victory. As you prepare to form your new administration, we respectfully urge you to consider appointing an Nzema indigene as the new Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Ghana Gas Company Limited, an installation on the Nzema land.
“This appointment would not only be a testament to your commitment to diversity and inclusion but also a strategic move to tap into the rich talent and expertise that the Nzema people have to offer. Ghana Gas, as a state agency, plays a critical role in the country’s energy sector, and we believe that an Nzema CEO would bring a unique perspective and understanding of the local context to the table,” portions of the statement indicated.
The group further indicated that appointing an Nzema as the CEO of the Ghana Gas facility will also serve as a tribute to the late President of Ghana, Kwame Nkrumah Nkrumah.
“Furthermore, this appointment would serve as a fitting tribute to the legacy of Dr. Kwame Nkrumah, a renowned Nzema son and Ghana’s first President. Dr. Nkrumah’s vision for Ghana’s development and self-reliance continues to inspire us, and we believe that appointing an Nzema CEO would be a meaningful way to honor his memory,” the statement added.
The Ghana Gas plant is located at Atuabo in the Ellembelle district of the Western region with Dr. Ben Asante leading a team of workers as the Chief Executive Officer.
