Students of Hwidiem Senior High School in the Asutifi district of the Ahafo Region have threatened to demonstrate if their death trap toilet facility is not attended to by authorities.

The students have complained that attending to nature call has problematic since they have no proper place of convenience.

Speaking with OnuaOnline’s Amstrong Obuodum Kusi, both the Boys’ and Girls’ prefects of the school disclosed that the school has lacked a proper toilet facility for the past six years.

They revealed that the only wooden KVIP toilet structure which has been sustaining them for a while has also been left to deteriorate making the place unhygienic, unhealthy and unsafe to use.

The unhygienic nature of the facility has bred reptiles including snakes, scorpions, lizards as well as insects including cockroaches and ants taking over the place.

The prefects further disclosed that the students, including both sexes, have resorted to the bush as a place of convenience due to the nature of the toilet.

Meanwhile, a newly completed toilet facility for the boys’ dormitory has not been commissioned six years after its construction.

They say the contractor who put up the structure says he will never open it for the students until the government pays him for the cost of the construction.
