Member of Parliament for Kpandai, Matthew Nyindam is pleased with the Supreme Court ruling which reinstated him as Kpandai MP by quashing an order  from Talame High Court for a rerun of the 2024 elections in Kpandai.

The NDC Parliamentary candidate in Kpandai, Daniel Nsala Wakpal filed an election petition which resulted in the annulment of Nyindam’s election in 2024.

Wakpala’s petition led to the Tamale High Court ordering a rerun of the election which duly elected Matthew Nyindam.

Lawyers of Nyindam then escalated the matter to the apex court arguing that the High Court judge lacked jurisdiction and the petition was filed after the mandatory 21-day period by which the election had already been gazetted.

In court on Wednesday, January 28, 2026, the Supreme Court quashed the High Court ruling, reinstated Nyindam as elected MP for Kpandai.

Speaking to TV3 after the court’s ruling, Nyindam expressed his satisfaction with the outcome of the case.

According to him, no machinations from the NDC will overturn the mandate given him by Kpandai constituents.

“Unfortunately, what happened I give glory to God. In my life whatever happens, I think that it is for them to happen so I am not going to run away from what happened, I know every well that people gave me the mandate. My God is alive, he will obviously speak to me one day and he has spoken to me today and I am grateful.

“I am going back to Parliament to continue to serve the people. So, obviously I am happy. The bible says touch not my anointed and do my prophet no harm,” he stated.

While expressing gratitude to the Apex court for the ruling, Matthew Nyindam noted that he is the ordained MP to serve Kpandai constituents.

“So, I am grateful to the Supreme Court for making that word come to pass today because I am serving my people and I am anointed to lead them, so shall it be,” he added.
