After receiving congratulatory message from previous holder of the Artiste of the Year award, King Promise, the newly crowned Artiste of the Year is yet to respond to the congratulatory remarks from Stonebwoy.
The Dancehall artiste was a strong contender of the award but lost to King Promise at the 26th TGMA after previously winning it ahead of the ‘Terminator’ hitmaker.
In a post on X on May 12, Stonebwoy congratulated the “Paris” hitmaker, welcoming him to what he described as that “the league of winners.”
In an interview on Hitz FM, May 13 King Promise was asked whether he has seen the congratulatory message from Stonebwoy but he responded saying “I have received the congrats, I don’t want to talk about it. I don’t really think it’s like anything to speak about.”
King Promise noted that although he had not personally seen the message from Stonebwoy, he had been told about but only asked those telling him to stay calm as he does not see it as a “big deal”.
“I’ve been told of it, I have actually. This morning, I have not been on X. I don’t think it is a big deal. I have responded on a few, the ones I saw when I went on the app, I responded to everyone,” he added.
This year, King Promise beat off competition from Stonebwoy, Joe Mettle, Black Sheriff, King Paluta, Team Eternity and Kwaku Smoke to win the most covetous award of the TGMA.
Apart from the Artiste of the Year award, he also took home the Afropop Song of the Year with ‘Paris’, Best Afrobeats/Afropop Artiste of the Year, and Album of the Year with ‘True to Self’ at the 26th Telecel Ghana Music Awards.
Stonebwoy, on the other hand, won Best Reggae/Dancehall Artiste of the Year, Reggae/Dancehall Song of the Year (with Psalm 23) and Best Music Video of the Year.
