Former Hearts of Oak midfielder Charles Allotey has descended heavily on the current crop of players, insisting they cannot win the Ghana Premier League.

He said the players lack consistency and are solely to blame for the relatively poor performance by the club.

He, therefore, exonerated Coach Aboubakar Ouattara of any blame, saying he does everything to ensure that the team plays well but the players disappoint him.

Charles Allotey expressed these sentiments on Onua Sports Center on Onua FM on Thursday, February 27.

“I doubt if Hearts of Oak can win the league [because] the team is full of on-and-off on-and-off players,” he told host Bismark Kwaku Sarpong.

“You go watch a game and see an outstanding player and then you go there next time to watch him and he becomes a big flop,” he added. “Then, I ask where is the confidence they play with?”

The Phobians currently lie 4th on the log with 33 points.

With the 2024/25 League set to return, Hearts of Oak will host Young Apostles in their next game.

Charles Allotey expressed confidence that Hearts’ archrivals Asante Kotoko are likely to win the league.

“The league we are playing, if we don’t take time it is Kotoko that will take it. If the other clubs make the least mistakes, Asante Kotoko will take it simple. Performance-wise, Kotoko are on top and the others are going down. Hearts did well in the first round but the second round has been bad and Kotoko started bad but have done well in the second round.”
