The Minister of Finance, Dr Cassiel Ato Baah Forson, has refuted claims by a section of the public that he has sanctioned a US$1.7 million single-source procurement contract.

Dr. Forson has urged the public to treat the ” baseless and misleading claim” with the contempt it deserves.

According to him, transparency and responsible governance is what guides his mantle as Minister, and has never authorised any such contracts since assuming office.

The Minister in a Facebook post Saturday, March 22, 2025, described the claims as entirely false and urged that no serious attention be given the allegations.

“My attention has been drawn to yet another baseless and misleading claim circulating about an alleged $1.7 million single-source procurement contract approved by me,” he stated.

“This claim is completely false and should be disregarded. Let me state clearly and categorically: I have not approved any procurements since I took office as Minister. My focus remains on ensuring transparency, accountability, and responsible economic management in the best interest of Ghana.”

Meanwhile, the Public Procurement Authority (PPA) has also denied the allegations, clarifying in a statement that no such contract has been approved.

Dr. Forson has assured Ghanaians of his quest to lead Ghana’s economic front with ethical standards, reiterating his commitment to instill fiscal responsibility and due process in all financial transactions.
