Nigerian media personality and filmmaker, Stephanie Coker Aderinokun has disclosed that she once wanted to commit suicide after an unsuccessful IVF (In Vitro Fertilization) surgery, even though she spent about $30,000 on the procedure.

Speaking in an interview on the “With Chude” podcast, Stephanie Coker lamented the financial and emotional toll that her reproductive journey took on her, saying that she was on the verge of giving up after a failed IVF.

According to the media personality, she had tried IVF once and was successful and even got pregnant so she was so certain about her second attempt only to be disappointed and devastated.

“I got pregnant on the first IVF and the second one failed and I actually wanted to stand in front of a car and just let the car hit me. I really hated myself then.  It was a costly decision to decide on IVF, we are talking about $40,000 back then and the second one was like $30,000″ she said.

Stephanie Coker further explained that she travelled to Los Angeles to undergo the procedure and was devastated after receiving a call from a nurse who delivered the heartbreaking news.

She added that she felt completely worthless and was questioning how she would manage to go back to Lagos without a baby.

“I hated myself then because I felt I had travelled to Los Angeles to get pregnant, and the nurse called me to say, ‘Hi Stephanie, I am sorry to give you this bad news. She said it was negative. ‘ I told the nurse I couldn’t go back home with no baby. I asked myself, ‘What did I spend all this money and time on?”” she said.
