Finance analyst and Chief Operations Officer at Dalex Finance, Joe Jackson, has said the task ahead for the new government is not an easy one, considering the enormity of the mess created by the previous administration.
He has expressed ‘grief’ for the new administration with recourse to the expectations from Ghanaians due to the overwhelming trust the citizens granted him at the December polls.
Speaking with Captain Smart on Onua TV Monday, January 06, 2025, ahead of the inauguration of the president, Mr. Jackson said “I weep for Mahama because everyone is looking up to him.”
“Because he has been given the power he needs and he is expected to satisfy the needs and demands of the people,” he stated.
Mr. Jackson listed some things that are already in disarray as a result of the previous government’s incompetence which the current administration has inherited and poses threat to Mahama’s government. “We are supposed to be in bumper season but we are not getting it.”
He, however, advised that the government puts in measures to ensure private sector expansion to employ people to reduce the unemployment rate.
“If we really need jobs, it doesn’t really come from the government. People who are doing their petty businesses known as SMEs are the ones who will bring jobs,” he stated.
He believes government industries will fail on the go due to the approach people will take to it, justifying the need to create a conducive environment for private industries to thrive.
“If government sets up a factory, foot soldiers and party faithful will be demanding for positions and it will collapse in no time,” he added, expressing hope that the government should be real to the people and capitalise on the support from the people as a new administration and take off with the goodwill.
“When a coach is changed in a football club, even the poor players give their best so there is the goodwill for us to take off because we’ve changed our leader. When you’re in need, you cut your coat according to your size,” added the Finance analyst.
