The Member of Parliament for Sefwi Wiawso, Dr. Kwaku Afriyie, has said he will be a failure not to hand over the parliamentary seat to an NPP candidate after the December 07 elections.

He says handing over to Festus Bumakama Agyapong, the New Patriotic Party (NPP) parliamentary candidate, would be his greatest achievement after serving as representative for the constituents.

After serving as MP for the people for two terms, Dr. Afriyie decided not to contest the seat again, paving way for Agyapong to succeed him.

During the launch of the constituency’s campaign team Saturday, June 08, 2024, Dr. Afriyie said “statistically something happened and someone took 6000 votes away so if you add that to mine, we have done that analysis. If there were NDC votes that was just about 200, the remaining were all NPP. So, what made me win by 72 votes does not mean anything. Indeed, if you check the presidential votes, that was the first time we voted here and Nana Addo won by over 3000 so the NDC should seek for votes somewhere else and not Sefwi Wiawso.

“My interest is that I get someone who is also an NPP to take over from me else I will be a failure,” he said.

Meanwhile, the parliamentary candidate for the party, Festus Bumakama Agyapong, was confident he was going to win the polls with over 10,000 votes difference.
