Nigeria and Napoli striker Victor Osimhen has reacted vehemently over allegations that he feigned injury to miss Nigeria’s recent 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifiers.

The Super Eagles could only pick one point out of six in June’s qualifiers, plunging the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations losing finalists to fifth on the six-team Group C table.

Head Coach Finidi George, confirmed in April, came under fire for the latest poor run of the Super Eagles.

He, however, blamed the absence of some key players including the 2024 African Footballer of the Year.

But in a live Instagram post on Saturday, the Napoli striker fumed over the talks and insisted that he was injured.

“I don’t have time for nonsense talk. I got injured in our last game against Lecce. I got injury in the last minute at my ankle.”

He said even an MRI scan confirmed the injury and he took videos because he suspected accusing fingers will be pointed at him.

He said he put a video call through to Coach Finidi George with his German doctors to inform him about the injury.

Victor Osimhen says he will continue to remain committed to his career both for club and country.

The Instagram feed was, however, interrupted by a colleague who ended the stream.
