A former Chairman of the governing New Patriotic Party (NPP), Freddie Blay, has said that he would have loved to buy the sixty percent stake in the four SSNIT hotels being offered the Minister for Agriculture, Bryan Acheampong if he had the money.

The comment comes as many, including Organized Labour question the decision by the Social Security and National Insurance Trust (SSNIT) to sell off 60 percent of its stake in Labadi Beach Hotel, La Palm Beach Hotel, Royal Ridge Hotel, and Busua Beach Hotel to Agric Minister, Bryan Acheampong.

Organized Labour, led by North Tongu MP, Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa hit the streets earlier this week in protest of the sale.

In a recent social media post, the MP, also alleged that a company belonging to the son of Freddie Blay, Spartan-Ives Limited had been among the shortlisted companies to buy a stretch of land near the Labadi Beach Hotels. Mr. Kwaw Blay has already indicated his decision to sue the MP.

But in an interview with TV3’ Beatrice Adu, Mr. Blay said that there is nothing wrong with the decision of SSNIT to sell its stakes in the hotels.

He questioned why Organized Labour would protest this publicly when a decision was taken by a board members of the group are a part of.

“If the board says this is the way, irrespective of my individual protest or my disagreement with it, the decision that we have taken is binding on us,” he stressed.

He added that he saw nothing wrong with the decision and he would have bought the hotels if he had the money.

“I would have loved to buy if I had the money because I have a good idea. My son convinced me. I don’t know on what basis they (Organized Labour) have taken their decision. SSNIT took a decision, and I don’t have any questions about that,” the current Board Chairman of the Ghana National Petroleum Corporation (GNPC) said.
