Dr. Matthew Opoku Prempeh, also known as NAPO, the running mate to the flag bearer of the NPP, has shot a salvoe at John Dramani Mahama, for his comments regarding the ghost of Ghana’s first President and himself.
John Mahama has said that if ghosts were as powerful as they used to, Dr. Nkrumah’s ghost would have knocked NAPO down for disrespecting him.
Speaking at Peki as part of his tour to the Volta Region Thursday, August 15, 2024, John Mahama said it was disrespectful for NAPO to speak in tonation unworthy to the dead especially in the Ghanaian culture.
This was after NAPO had spoken ill of Dr. Kwame Nkrumah and referred to Prof. Mills as ‘the one who died’.
“You can insult me because I can respond because I’m alive. But in our tradition you don’t disrespect the dead because they are not alive to respond to you. In the past ghosts were powerful. As he said that Nkrumah’s ghost would have knocked him down. But now, ghosts have all become disarmed,” John Mahama had stated.
The Manhyia South lawmaker, during his unveiling at the Jubilee Park in Kumasi Tuesday, July 09, 2024, indicated that none can be compared to President Akufo-Addo in terms of achievements, including Dr. Nkrumah, a comment he made in a tonation many described as disrespectful and smacks of arrogance.
“I can boldly say that if the history of Ghana is told from 1957, we have never had a president that has helped Ghana more than Nana Akufo-Addo. I mean from 1957, even including your Kwame Nkrumah, none of them has protected Ghana and developed the country more than Nana Akufo-Addo,” said Dr. Matthew Opoku Prempeh.
Responding to the former President in the Ahafo Ano South East constituency in a video which has gone viral, NAPO indicated that John Mahama would have also been in prison if President Mills’ ghost existed.
“Recently he had a microphone and to tell Ghanaians something better, what he said was that if Nkrumah’s ghost was there, he would have slapped me. I am also telling him that if Prof. Mill’s ghost existed, he John Mahama would have been in prison,” NAPO stated.
He added that the Vice President and flag bearer of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) is incorruptible because he has never been a subject of investigation over corruption since he entered into politics.
“I repeat that our leader, Dr. Bawumia is not corrupt. Since he joined politics, there has never been any attempt to investigate his works and he will never be corrupt. He is truthful and will speak to Ghanaians in truth,” NAPO added.
