The Ghana Police Service has denied rumors that the Inspector General of Police (IGP), Christian Tetteh Yohuno, has died.

In a statement posted on X Sunday, November 30, 2025, the Service dismissed the speculation, confirming the IGP is alive and carrying out his duties as head of the Police Service.

“The attention of the Ghana Police Service has been drawn to some speculation that the Inspector-General of Police (IGP), Mr. Christian Tetteh Yohuno is deceased.

“We wish to categorically state that these reports are false. The IGP is alive and well and going about his duties as expected,” the statement said.

The statement urged officers of the police service, “family members, loved ones, and the general public to disregard these reports.”

Meanwhile, the police have issued a stern warning to those behind the publication of such false news, cautioning them to desist as it constitutes a crime in Ghana.

It added that persons found culpable will face the full force of the law. “We would like to caution persons behind these malicious, insensitive, and reckless claims that disinformation is an offense, and perpetrators will be brought to justice when identified.”
