TP Mazembe forward Thelma Baffour Atuah has announced her readiness to play for the senior national women’s soccer team, the Black Queens.

The former Jonina Ladies attacker was part of the TP Mazembe team that won the 2024 CAF Women’s Champions League over the weekend, becoming the second Ghanaian after Blessing Agbomadzi to win the tournament.

Speaking in an exclusive interview with Onua Sports barely 24 hours after the feat, Thelma admitted that her selection into the TP Mazembe set-up since she joined from Jonina Ladies has been due to her mental strength.

“With every opportunity given me, I try to give off my best,” she said.

“If you look at our team, most of the players play for their national teams. It’s only one or two who are not with national teams, so before you join the team, your performance, your mentality should be up [there].

“Therefore, me being part of the team tells that my mental strength and my physique is high because that is what the coach needs.”

Thelma has featured for the junior national teams including the Black Princesses before making the switch from Ghana to DR Congo.

She said if given the opportunity she will give out her all for the Black Queens.

“So, if they give me the opportunity of a call-up into the Black Queens, I will come and die for Ghana my country.”
