President John Dramani Mahama has assured that he will make a special appearance on the runway at the upcoming Ghana Fashion Week in July.

Speaking at the launch of the Black Star Experience in Accra on May 1, 2025, the President, who is known to have preference for Ghanaian clothing emphasized his dedication to promoting Ghanaian fashion.

“When we host the Ghana fashion week in July, I, your president, will proudly take to the catwalk,” he said.

President Mahama further announced that he would change outfits three times during his catwalk appearance and give credit to the designers behind his style.

“I always wear Made in Ghana clothes, and I have political suits all sewn by Ghanaian tailors. Because this experience is real and it belongs to all of us.

“On that day, I am going to change three times and walk on the catwalk. And anytime I walk, I will tell you which designer sewed that particular dress,” he said.

The Black Star Experience

The Blackstar Experience is government’s flagship programme aimed at promoting the tourism, culture and creative arts industries.

The programme will thrive on seven pillars namely; cinema, audio, cuisines, aesthetics, style, literature and heritage to increase and grow Ghana’s share of the global creative culture economy.

The Ghana Fashion Week, a key part of the Black Star Experience will run for seven days in July, featuring designers, models and industry stakeholders.
