The Vice President, Dr Mahamudu Bawumia has promised the youth of Ghana to support their startup businesses as well as Small and Medium Scale Enterprises (SMEs) when voted into power.
Speaking to commemorate this year’s International Youth Day, Dr Bawumia expressed is confidence that this will provide skills to more than one million youth in the country.
He emphasized on government’s digital initiatives in spearheading growth and development in the country.
He recalled the mobile money interoperability and the deployment of a drone systems as major initiatives by the government.
He also emphasised on introduction of a credit system when he is voted into power.
Already, issues about loans for startups and SMEs have been a major setback.
Dr Bawumia underscored the relevance of the youth in nation building. He promised to provide skills to over 1 million youth to engage in digital employment.
“On this International Youth Day, I want to assure you government will listen to your concerns and ideas, we will advocate for your rights and interest, support initiative that will promote you to develop, empower and strength you, to provide more opportunities for the youth”.
Minister of Youth and Sports, Mohammed Yusif assured Ghanaian youth of more opportunities for them.
“We must ensure that every person in Ghana, regardless of their background will have access to skills, I must echo that the government of Ghana is committed to develop skills of young people”.
Other speakers underscored the need for strong policies to support youth development.
This year’s International Youth Day is on the theme, “from clicks to Progress, youth across the globe are leading innovations and offering unprecedented opportunities for sustainable development through digital technologies.”
