The immediate past Member of Parliament (MP) for Dome Kwabenya, Sarah Adwoa Safo, has rubbished the fact-finding committee constituted by the New Patriotic Party (NPP) on its election defeat.
She says the person leading the committee, Prof. Aaron Mike Oquaye, is “not credible” to lead the exercise since his hands are soiled with defeat.
“It’s a very bogus committee,” she said on Accra-based JoyNews Thursday, March 20, 2025, when speaking on the NPP’s defeat and matters arising.
According to the former Deputy Majority Leader of Parliament, Prof. Oquaye lacks the integrity to lead the committee since he is part of the problem he has been tasked to address.
Adwoa Safo has said the intent of the committee is to find problems with a particular candidate to push another person for the party’s flag bearer for the 2028 elections.
The former legislator believes the work is not anchored on facts but rather an agenda to serve the interest of a certain caucus in the party.
“We are tickling ourselves to laugh. Why? The committee that is put together is an intentional committee put together just to make sure that we find certain facts and push a particular candidate away from the candidacy so that we can bring our own? You call that a credible fact-finding committee?” she indicated.
The former MP further indicated that she wants the Chair of the committee to explain to Ghanaians in his report, what caused his son’s defeat in Dome Kwabenya.
“If he is able to do it, and do it with the needed integrity, with transparency, without biases and prejudices, I will take any report finding he puts in there against Dr. Bawumia, either than that, that report will not work in this party,” she added.
