Non-governmental organisation Jana Foundation has made a pit stop at the Kwabenya Senior High School for a day’s seminar for students.

Mostly girls, the participating students were inspired to set high goals to be leaders in society.

Addressing the students, Founder and Executive Director of Jana Foundation Janet Asana Nabla urged the girls to use “your voices, your ideas and your unyielding courage” to change policies that govern their lives.

“I urge all of you to seize leadership opportunities in your school. Engage in clubs, student unions, and take on leadership roles beyond typical titles for girls—aim for substantive positions,” the founder of the People’s National Party (PNP) said.

“These experiences will build your confidence and equip you with essential skills for the future. As you progress into tertiary education, pursue student politics and engage actively with the pressing issues of our time. Stay informed about your nation’s affairs; your voices must play a pivotal role in shaping the policies that govern our lives.”

Taking them through her life story, Madam Nabla also urged them to make their contributions recognised.

“Remember, no one can tell your story quite like you can. So, tell it boldly! Stand tall, speak up, and understand that while the journey may be filled with challenges, each step you take toward embracing your leadership and political engagement will pave the way for a brighter future – not just for yourselves, but for generations to come.”
