The National Democratic Congress’ 2024 flag bearer, John Dramani Mahama, is surprised at the degree of adamance being exhibited by President Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo with regards to the calls for a reshuffle in his government.
John Mahama says if the President was a listening leader, he would have made changes in his administration to make the dormant ministers active and get themselves on track.
Speaking Tuesday, January 30, 2024, at Anum in the Asuogyaman district of the Eastern region, the former President said appointees of the current regime are under-performing because they feel there is nothing to lose whether they perform up to task or not.
His comments was in reaction to calls by the chiefs for the President to let them know their fate on their deplorable roads which have not seen any upgrade since the days of President Kutu Acheampong almost five decades ago.
“If the President was a listening leader, he would have heeded to the calls of almost all Ghanaians asking him to reshuffle his government. Because he has refused to reshuffle the ministers, they are all dormant and not active,” John Mahama noted during his two-day visit to the Eastern region as part of his ‘Building Ghana’ tour.
Meanwhile, the Krontihene of Anum traditional area, during his address at the gathering expressed regret for campaigning against John Mahama during the 2020 elections.
“I once called out John Mahama’s bad leadership on a radio station and we the people of Anum will not be part of any means to bring him back to power. Your Excellency, forgive me my sins,” he confessed.
He also complained about the poor nature of their roads saying “we are not asking for anything. If this government cannot construct the road, they should tell us. We would have constructed it to the glory of our Omanhene, Odeneho Kwafo Akoto, if we could do it on our own.”
