John Dramani Mahama has been sworn-in by the Chief Justice, Gertrude Araba Esaaba Sackey Torkornoo, as President of the Republic of Ghana.

He becomes the sixth person to be elected to the high office of the land following an overwhelming election victory on Saturday, December 07, 2024.

He follows former Presidents Jerry John Rawlings, John Agyekum Kufuor, John Evans Atta Mills, and William Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo.

This is Mahama’s second coming after being elected the Fourth President of the Fourth Republic. He took over after President Mills was deceased, but lost his bid for re-election to Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo.

He is to serve his second term after making history as the only sitting President to lose his re-election bid and come back to be voted as President to complete his constitutionally mandated term.

The Tuesday, January 07, 2025 event at the Black Star Square was historic, following the inauguration of the Prof. Jane Naana Opoku Agyemang, as Ghana’s first female Vice President.

She took the Oath of Allegiance and Vice Presidential Oath and sworn in before John Mahama took his turn.
