Ghana’s former President John Agyekum Kufuor has disclosed that the seat of government, the Jubilee House, was “virtually gifted” to him by India.
The former President recalls it as one of his greatest personal achievements, a testament to what he describes as a life well lived.
In a TV interview with Deloris Frimpong Manso on her Delay Show aired on TV3 on Saturday, December 6, 2025, he recalled the personalities he encountered during his time as President and the places he visited, which he says resulted in the Jubilee House, the seat of government today.
According to him, the Jubilee House wasn’t built based on diplomatic architecture but rather his personal relations with the then Indian government, prompting them to put up the structure for him.
He also recounted some positions he held in the Africa region and West Africa sub-region when Delay asked if he would describe his life as one that’s well-lived.
“During my time, I travelled across all five continents. I met most of the great leaders in the world. In Africa, I’ve been AU Chair, ECOWAS Chair twice. I’ve attended G7 and G8 meetings…Jubilee House was virtually gifted to me by the Indians. The presidency, they gifted it to me,” he stated in Twi.
He advised that life hinges on how you position your mind – the moment you say it’s over, everything stops.
On whether he’d marry again after losing wife Theresa Kufuor in October 2023, the ex-President joked, asking if the single media personality was making a “proposal”.
