A 37-year-old Sebastian Akwasi Kanyettey a.k.a. Gateytey, has allegedly committed suicide by hanging at Blue Kiosk, a suburb of Kasoa in the Awutu Senya East municipality of the Central Region.
Reports indicate the young man was found in his room with a rope tied to his neck Monday morning, August 05, 2024.
It is reported that bloodstains were also found on his body.
Meanwhile, preliminary investigations suggest Gateytey hanged himself on the hook of the ceiling fan in his room.
Brother of the deceased, Jerome, who spoke to Onua News indicated that his brother had been complaining of some spirits haunting him for some time now.
The deceased was a former footballer who played for a Division 2 side but was working as a tiler prior to his demise.
Assemblyman for the Opeikuma-Kumbe-Krispocity Electoral area, Habbib Abdulai, has advised the youth to desist from taking their lives when they face difficulties.
According to him, the youth should learn to share their issues rather than resorting to suicide as an option.
The body has since been conveyed to the police morgue by the Kasoa Divisional Police Command for preservation and autopsy.
