The selection of a successor for Nii Awushie Tetteh, the Divisional Chief of Kasoa Odupong Ofaakor in the Awutu Senya East of the Central Region has left one hospitalised.

Tension is heightened as the two factions claiming ownership of the stool have clashed, leading to one battling for his life at the moment.

Reporting on Onua TV midday news Friday, August 26, 2022, Nana Yaw Asare, the Central Regional Correspondent narrated the current chief, Nii Awushie Tetteh is indisposed due to old age and sickness.

The community has found the need to replace him since he can’t attend any function and other responsibilities that require his physical presence.

However, the convention is that, after the Awushie Tetteh lineage, there is another gate called Akorley which is the next in line of succession.

The Akorley gate presented a candidate to be enstooled but was rejected by the Tetteh family who insist their lineage must act since the chief is not dead yet. But the Akorley family say should they allow a Tetteh to act, he would still be chief even when the current one dies, therefore denying them the opportunity to ascend the throne.

During the installation ceremony, the Tetteh family hired landguards to brutalise the Akorley gate, leaving Kwame Odeneho in a critical condition.

The Ofaakor District Police Command together with the Central East Regional Police Command are in Kasoa Odupong Ofaakor bringing the situation under control.
