Kennedy Ohene Agyapong has apologised to his core supporters for joining Dr. Bawumia’s campaign without informing them first.

The 2024 flag bearer aspirant of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), says he should have disclosed the decision to his supporters before joining the Vice President.

During his tour to the Ashanti Region recently, Ken Agyapong joined the Vice President and flag bearer of the NPP, Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, to campaign.

The move, is what Mr. Agaypong thinks, should have been communicated to his supporters prior.

Speaking at his birthday party in Accra Monday, June 17, 2024, the Chairman of Parliament’s Defence and Interior Committee said “let me apologise for not informing you before I went there.”

Mr. Agyapong, has, meanwhile, reassured leadership and supporters of the party that he is still a member.

He says despite his defeat in the flag bearer elections, he still remains a member of the elephant fraternity.

He stated that he has not resigned from the party and remains a committed member.

“What I want all the party people to know is that I have not resigned from the party,” Ken Agyapong has said at a birthday party in Accra Monday, June 17, 2024.

The MP has also affirmed that he is not running for independent in the upcoming polls.

According to him, although there have been calls to his outfit to contest the elections as independent following his defeat in the presidential primary, the outspoken lawmaker says that’s not an option.

Speaking in the presence of the Chairman of the NPP, Stephen Ayesu Ntim, Ken Agyapong expressed the need for the party to present a united front to win the elections.

“I am not going independent. I’m still an NPP member. And once I’m a party member, no matter what happened during the primaries, I think we are all party people and it will be best for all of us to come together.

“If you know me very well, I’m not selfish. People have come to me several times ‘go independent, go independent’ [but] I think that’s not the best thing to do and therefore I’ve refused to do that so I’m pleading with NPP supporters that with a united front, we can win the elections together,” he said at the party.

He appealed to the party supporters to come together to fight a common cause since the primary is over.

“So, I’m pleading with all sides, we have finished the primaries, the Vice President has won and therefore, there is no Ken Agyapong supporters, no Vice President’s supporters,” he urged.

“We are all one, let’s come together and win 2024,” the legislator reiterated.
