The Penyi Traditional area in the Ketu North Municipality of the Volta region has enstooled the 2024 flagbearer of the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC), John Dramani Mahama, as Development chief.
The Friday, October 13, 2023, event was marked with a colourful durbar of chiefs and residents of Penyi where the former President was enstooled with the title ‘Togbi Dunenyo I’, the Nugoryifia of the Penyi Traditional Area.
John Mahama’s visit to the area as guest of honour at the Penyi Nugoryiza was met with a glamouring crowd who couldn’t hide their excitement through drumming and dancing at his arrival.
Meanwhile, the paramount chief of Penyi Traditional Area, Togbiga Dadzi V during his address was full of praise, thanking Mr. Mahama for his numerous developmental projects in the area and asked that he do more when the NDC returns to power.
Penyi Nugoryiza is an annual festival of the chiefs and people of Penyi, one of the four traditional areas in the Ketu North municipality of the Volta region.
