Former Simba FC left-back Kwasi Asante has sealed a deal to join Ghana Premier League side Asante Kotoko.
The experienced player, who also plays sometimes as center back, signed a one-and-a-half contract on Wednesday following successful medicals.
Head Coach Dr Prosper Narteh Ogum expressed confidence in the new player, especially due to the dearth at that position for sometime now.
“Everyone knows we’ve been playing with just one recognizable left-back in Patrick Asiedu since October last year, and it was essential to strengthen that area,” he said.
“Kwasi [Asante] brings both quality and versatility to our squad.
“His ability to play multiple positions adds depth to the team, and his wealth of experience will undoubtedly benefit us in key moments.”
On his part, the former Hafia Club player said he has admired the Reds since his infancy.
“Joining Kotoko feels like a homecoming for me,” he said.
“This is a club I’ve admired for years because of its history and passion. When the opportunity came, I didn’t have to think twice because I want to be part of something special here.”
He assured fans that he will meet their high expectations of him.
For him, competing for positions is part of football “and I welcome it because it makes us all better”.
“I’m here to work hard, contribute to the team, and help Kotoko achieve its goals this season.”
