The Kwadaso Circuit Court has remanded three persons who were arrested for allegedly attacking fire officers during a fire incident at the Racecourse Market in Kumasi.
The accused persons are Solomon Anaba, 18; Akongoli Adoko, 18; and Lamamia Ishmael, 21, all labourers.
Charged with conspiracy to commit assault on a public officer and assault on a public officer, their pleas were not taken.
The court granted the request of the prosecutor, ASP Jonas Newlove Adjei, who prayed the court to keep the accused in police custody to allow for further investigations.
The prosecutor argued that the accused persons are squatters and if granted bail, they will interfere with investigations.
Presided by His Honour Stephen Kumi, the court, thus, remanded the accused persons to reappear on March 26, 2024.
The accused persons were arrested on March 11, 2024, when they allegedly pelted stones at fire fighters deployed from the Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital fire station to bring under control, a raging inferno.
One of the firefighters, who was hit by a stone, sustained an injury and has since been treated and discharged.
