At Ashanti New Town, a suburb of Kumasi in the Ashanti region, a young man identified as Kwadwo Bright, has been stabbed to death following a fight over a plastic chair.

It is reported that the deceased entered into an argument with a friend who is suspected to be the attacker in the early hours of Thursday, September 4, 2025, which escalated into violence.

According to eyewitnesses, the duo had argued over owner of the plastic chair at a snooker game centre which was resolved. However, the suspect later confronted the victim, Kwadwo, and stabbed him in the neck.

Mother of the deceased, Cynthia Yeboah, recounted to the media how the incident got to her attention.

“I heard people screaming about a young man being stabbed and rushed to the scene, only to find my son in a critical state. Although the matter was reportedly settled, the suspect later attacked and stabbed Kwadwo in the neck, resulting in his death this morning,” she said.

Kwadwo was rushed to the Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital, where doctors pronounced him dead.

Police are yet to issue an official statement on the incident, while investigations are underway to apprehend the suspect.
