The Kumasi Metropolitan Chief Executive, Richard Ofori-Agyeman Boadi, has vowed to crackdown on traders who disobey his directives not to trade at unauthorized locations in Central Business District.

Some parts of Adum, Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital Roundabout, and Bantama Market, the Mayor and his team visited Kejetia, Central Market phase 1, where he expressed displeasure over trading at the gates or entrances and other unapproved locations.

Speaking on Ghanakoma morning show on Akoma 87.9fm in Kumasi with Sir John, on Tuesday, December 2,2025, KMA Boss, cautioned that trading at all unauthorized locations in the market should stop with immediate effect.

He further promised to deal ruthlessly with traders who dared to trade at unauthorized locations in the market starting from Tuesday, December 2,2025.

He debunked reports that, he has authorised payment for allocation of spaces in the market.

“If anybody has come with my name to ask for money to allow you sell at the entry point of the market, go back for your money. Tell the person who took the money that I’m not a thief. I don’t like the money”, he said.

I’m bent on instilling sanity in the city, and I’m leaving no stone unturned.

He said, he has consistently deployed Metro Guards and other security operatives to the Central Business District on daily basis to improve sanity.

The move, he said has helped to improve traffic flow in the CBD, as well as commercial drivers compliance with transport regulations and order.

He admitted that, though there are pockets of recalcitrant drivers, sanity in the CBD is generally better now.
