Nine persons suspected to be part of recent residential armed robberies within the Kumasi metropolis have been arrested by the Ashanti Regional Police Command.
According to police, one of the suspects died during the operation after sustaining gunshot wounds during an exchange of fire with the police officers.
The suspect was pronounced dead after being rushed to the hospital.
One other suspect who sustained gunshot wounds is currently receiving treatment at the hospital under strick police supervision.
Meanwhile, suspects Kelvin Adomako 29, Daniel Dwomoh 46, Kwadwo Kyei Baffour 39, Joseph Oppong 29, Bernard Owusu Ansah 27, Kwadwo Konadu 27, James Asare Boateng 26, Emmanual Asiedu 27, and Maxwell Gyimah 31 are currently in police custody.
The suspects were armed with pump-action guns, pistols, and other offensive weapons.
Also, multiple laptops, tablets, mobile phones, and two Toyota Corollas were retrieved from their hideouts according to the police.
Ashanti Regional Police Commander, DCOP Emmanuel Teye Cudjoe, speaking at a news conference in Kumasi Monday, June 30, 2025, disclosed that, one of the suspects, Kwabena Baffour, during interrogation, confessed to the crimes and admitted to committing rape during one of the operations.
Meanwhile, one suspect, identified as Yahaya Nuhu, is currently at large. The police have assured the public of their commitment to locating his whereabouts.
