Three persons have been confirmed dead in a deadly clash at Old Suame, a suburb of Kumasi in the Ashanti region on Friday evening, April 10, 2026.
The disturbance reportedly began during the burial ceremony of a young man, identified as Abinaah, popularly known as “Fucking Bird,” who lost his life in an accident at the Asokwa overhead earlier in the week.
The emotional gathering drew youth and sympathizers from various communities, including Adankwame and Aboabo.
Eyewitnesses say what started as a heated confrontation between the two groups quickly spiraled into chaos, as individuals hurled stones and other objects in a fierce street battle.
The violence disrupted the solemn ceremony, forcing residents and mourners to flee for safety.
Confirming the incident to Akoma News, the Assembly Member for the Nkramom Electoral Area, Kojo Gyamfi, widely known as Idi Malaskia, said the clashes resulted in multiple injuries and three deaths.
According to him, the injured victims were rushed to the Okomfo Anokye Teaching Hospital and Anomanye Clinic for treatment.
He further disclosed that all three deceased persons were males and were pronounced dead upon arrival at the Okomfo Anokye Teaching Hospital.
Despite the severity of the incident, no arrests have been made so far. The nearest police facility, the Suame Police Station, is yet to provide an official statement on the matter.
Residents have expressed deep concern over the violence, describing the situation as frightening and calling for swift security intervention to prevent any further escalation.
A visit to the community on Monday morning, April 13, however, indicated that calm has been restored, with normal activities gradually resuming as residents go about their daily routines, although underlying tension remains.
