Ghanaian rapper Kunta Kinte of the once famous music group, Bradez, has dispelled long-held misconceptions regarding the cause of his stroke and provided insight into the circumstances that contributed to his health issues.
Speaking in an interview on AsaasePa 107.3 on Saturday, April 26, Kunta Kinte clarified rumuors about his stroke fifteen years ago, disclosing that he had sought for malaria treatment only to end up with stroke.
He clarified that his health crisis started when he caught malaria while he was a student at the University of Ghana.
He claimed that he sought treatment at the university hospital, but it took an hour and a half before he was treated due to the long queue of patients.
Kunta Kinte narrated that after seeing the doctor, he was injected only to wake up and could not move.
“It’s true the ladies liked my swag that is why some people are accusing me falsely.
“I was in Legon when it started. I had severe malaria and went to seek treatment at the university hospital. When I went there, there were about 10 people in queue waiting to see the doctor. So, I pleaded with those ten people to allow me see the doctor, so when I was about entering, one nurse asked me why I’m entering when I came to meet these number of people.
“So, I spoke to them for about five minutes but they still insisted that I go back to join the queue so I did and waited for about one and half hour before it was my turn.
“After entering to see the doctor, he said why I’m I shouting when I only have normal malaria so he injected with and after wards when I woke up I couldn’t even move. That was what happened,” he narrated.
He expressed gratitude and appreciation to God for the strength and guidance through the difficult moments.
Kunta Kinte has made steady progress toward full recovery in spite of the physical hurdles.
Kunta Kinte also shared that his elder brother, celebrated musician Okyeame Kwame, had advised him to stop speaking publicly about the incident. However, he noted that this would be his final explanation regarding the matter.
