Executive Council member of the Ghana Football Association (GFA) James Kwesi Appiah has temporarily stepped aside over a conflict of interest situation ahead of Sudan’s games against the Black Stars.
Onua sources say Kwesi Appiah responded to a concern raised by the Confederation of African Football (CAF) over his dual positions as a member of the Association and Head Coach of Sudan’s national football team.
In his response, the former Black Stars coach said he is temporarily withdrawing from the role till the end of November.
This is expected to allow him time to complete the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers as Head Coach of the Falcons of Jediane.
Appiah, who is a management member of Ghana Premier League club Asante Kotoko, was last year elected into the Executive Council of the GFA as one of the League’s reps.
But his position as the Sudan coach has stirred controversy ahead of their qualifiers against the Black Stars.
It is said to be against the statutes of CAF and FIFA.
He was, thus, given an October 8 ultimatum to remedy the situation.
