The Kyebi District Court has granted bail to five persons who allegedly impersonated as NAIMOs officials at Akyem Potrase in the Abuakwa South Municipality of the Eastern Region.
The bail was granted on two sureties each, workers who earn salaries between 3000 Ghana cedis and 4000 Ghana cedis.
Prosecutor Detective Chief Inspector Kamal Salifu Gumah of the Eastern South legal prosecution unit presented facts of the case and charges.
The accused pleaded not guilty to all four counts- Conspiracy to commit crime, contrary to section 23 and 15 (1) of the criminal code offenses act 1960 ( Act 29), Extotion contrary to section 15 (1) of the criminal offenses act 1960 ( 29), Conspiracy to commit crime and falsely pretending to be public officers , contrary to section 237 of the criminal offences act.
One of the accused allegedly extorted 1400 under threat from two of his victims.
Their lawyers prayed for their bail.
The case has been adjourned to February 9 2026 for case management conference.
