The leadership of the Medical Laboratory Professional Workers’ Union (MELPWU) has expressed unflinching solidarity with the Ghana Registered Nurses and Midwives Association (GRNMA) as they embark on their rightful industrial action in pursuit of the full implementation of the 2024 Collective Agreement.
In a statement signed by the Deputy General Secretary, Dr Prosper Senyo Sokpe, the Union said, it will ensure that nurses and midwives are treated fairly.
“This is not just about nurses, or one union. This is about justice for every health professional who continues to serve under unjust and unequal conditions,” said Dr. Prosper Senyo Sokpe.
“The concerns raised by GRNMA reflect the struggles we all share—delayed recruitment, stalled financial clearance, poor working conditions, and the persistent absence of a dedicated regulatory council, directorate, and clear career progression paths for many health professionals. Their fight is our fight. The system must stop overlooking the essential contributions of frontline professionals across the health sector,” he noted.
MELPWU called on all members to remain vigilant, united, and fully mobilized.
“Should our collective concerns continue to be disregarded, we are prepared to pursue all lawful and strategic measures to protect our rights and dignity. Healthcare is a team effort. Our voices matter, and we will not allow them to be drowned out. We move as one. Let us remain strong and prepared. This is a shared cause—and we stand together. Stand by. Stay strong. Stay ready,” Dr Sokpe stressed.
